Profile

Since founding CM+ in 1984, Steven I. Doctors has maintained hands-on responsibility for a broad

range of projects for building owners, tenants, financial institutions, educational groups and non-profit

organizations.  As a project manager, architect, contractor, architectural historian, and educator, he brings diverse perspectives to the entire design and construction process, from initial program development through construction and project close-out.

Steven received a Bachelor of Architecture at Cornell University and both a Master of Science and Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of California (Berkeley).  He is an adjunct professor in the Department of Art + Architecture at the University of San Francisco, where he teaches architectural history, professional practice, and the introductory course to architecture and community design.  His research interests include the history of architectural practice, design theory and methods, project management methodologies, project delivery strategies, 20th century Italian architecture, and sacred spaces.  Steven is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the AIA Practice Management Knowledge Community, the American Society for the Advancement of Project Management, and the International Project Management Association.
